All necessary approvals have been received. The SDSSAA Nordic Ski season will now feature one preliminary race followed by the city finals. Prelim 1 – Thu, Feb 25 @ Onaping Falls Nordic, Thu, Mar 4 (cities) @ Naughton. At last check, 105 racers had signed up for the first prelim.
Girls’ Volleyball and Curling Plans
Public Health has approved the return to competition protocols proposed for girls volleyball and curling. Schedule alternatives will be circulated to coaches this week, with girls volleyball starting the week of Monday, March 1st and curling starting as early as Mon, Feb 22nd (practice) and Mon, March 1st (games).
SDSSAA Congratulates Karin Augenstein
In a twitter announcement last week, NOSSA awarded Lockerby CS P.E. Program Leader Karin Augenstein with the coveted Pete Beach Award. SDSSAA Alpine/Snowboard Cancelled
Citing a lack of training opportunities available to students following the stay-at-home order issued by the provincial government on Jan 12th, organizers have cancelled the SDSSAA alpine ski and snowboard season this school year. With a beginner focus and the need to properly train students before racing in competition, consensus was that races could not be hosted to a safe standard under present conditions.
